Nemo

The Mundane World

Nemo lives in a sea anemone with his father, Marlin. His dad is very protective and doesn’t let him do a lot on his own.

The Call To Adventure

When Nemo goes to the edge of the drop-off, Marlin comes to yell at Nemo, telling him he can’t go out. Nemo gets so upset that he goes past his friends who are already out past the drop-off. He ventures out a little bit further but is caught by a scuba diver.

Crossing The Threshold

Nemo gets dumped in the fish tank of the dentist that caught him. He swims around and meets everyone and is pretty scared at first.

The Path of Trials

One of Nemo’s first trials is to adjust to being in the tank. He meets new fish and has to get used to them and how different they are. He’s accepted by the other fish and has to go through an initiation; swimming through Mt. Wannahockalougie.

The next trial is from Gil, another fish in the tank. He wants him to put a pebble into the cleaning system of the tank so that everything becomes dirty. This is all part of a plan to get Nemo and the other fish out of the tank and back in the ocean. Nemo gets stuck and almost gets hurt very badly.

The next trial is for Nemo to go through the cleaning system again, and this time he does it. The tank becomes dirty except the dentist puts a heavy-duty cleaning system in. Nemo then finds a way to get out of the tank and back into the ocean despite the setback.

His final trial is to help Dory get out of the net by getting all the fish to swim down and break the net. He does this and saves everyone, including Dory.

Master of Two Worlds

Nemo realizes that he can do just about anything he set his mind to, despite of his smaller fin. He also realizes that there was a good reason for his dad being so protective and that no matter what, his dad loves and cares about him very much. He takes away a sense of courage and responsibility from his journey.
